Krabi launched pro-active marketing to Middle East travelers, while more boutique resorts are being constructed

From Thainews.com

Hotels and tourism businesses in Krabi earlier this month participated in the Arabian Travel Mart 2007 in Dubai aiming to attract Middle East travelers to fill its low season. Among local hoteliers who made a marketing trip to the tourism event and showcased their products in the booth of Thailand were Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort, Krabi Thai Village and Cha-da Beach Resort and Spa. The Tourism Authority of Thailand or TAT Krabi office chief Ladawan Chuay-chart explained that the number of Middle East holiday makers in Krabi is still low, but she hopes that the new marketing would attract more to fill up its low season. At present Krabi has over 13,000 rooms for accommodation, with several boutique-style resorts of around 50–150 rooms being constructed and their rates are 6,000 baht per night upwards.
